One of the newest Android phones to hit the market is the Sony Xperia Z. If you are looking for a new smartphone and are interested specifically in Android phones, you might want to consider this device as your new daily driver. Sony has put in all its technology expertise in making this powerhouse smartphone. It is a unique smartphone in the sense that it is said to be waterproof, which is definitely the phone’s USP. It is worth exploring the features this device includes and the pros and cons of them.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 is considered by many as the best Android phone, Xperia Z has positioned itself up as a close competitor to Galaxy S4 and is certainly worth looking into. It includes 16GB of internal storage, which can be seen as either a positive or negative, depending on the user; however, that along with a microSD slot that supports cards up to 64GB, offers plenty of storage for content such as photos, music and video.

This Sony offering runs on Android’s 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, which provides the individual a smooth user experience. It is also upgradeable to the latest version of 4.2.2. The device boasts a five inch HD display that measures in at 1920 by 1080 pixels, 441 pixels per inch. The screen is shatter proof and is protected by a special scratch resistant glass.

sony xperia Z_2_TechNewOne of the best aspects of the Sony Xperia Z, as said earlier, is that it is water resistant for up to one meter and 30 minutes. It is also dust resistant, so if you are in a line of work where you are in dusty situations, the device should hold up extremely well. With that being said, it is no doubt the best Android phone for a specific market. It is powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm processor and 2GB of RAM, which allows the user the ability to get everything done, whether they are surfing the web, streaming content, playing games with comprehensive graphics or downloading apps.

Like one of its biggest rivals, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Xperia Z sports a 13 megapixel primary rear-facing camera that is capable of capturing quality photos. It includes LED flash, autofocus, face detection and image stabilization. There is also a secondary front-facing camera of 2.2 megapixels that is excellent for video chatting.

The Sony Xperia Z is available on a number of wireless carriers and comes in color choices of black, white and, oddly, purple. While there are no color options of red or yellow like another popular smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 920, purple is a nice option for some and separates the phone from the numerous standard black or white choices. The body of the device is thin and light at 0.31 inches and 139 grams, yet it is highly durable and feels anything but cheap in the user’s hand.

With the Xperia Z’s 2330 mAh Lithium-ion battery, you can look forward to up to 14 hours of talk time and as long as 550 hours of standby time with it. You will get a full day’s usage while listening to music, browsing the Internet and watching video.

So, are you planning to change your smartphone and grab a Sony Xperia Z?
